§ MR. J. M. ROBERTSONI beg to ask the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether he is aware that large sums of money are annually paid by the Egyptian State Railways Administration for inserting in Egyptian newspapers whole pages of their time-table, although the official time-table of such administration is published at regular intervals; and whether, seeing that such advertisements are greatly in excess of public requirements and are inserted in such newspapers with the object of influencing their proprietors and editors in favour of the Government policy, he will advise the Egyptian Government to discontinue the practice.
§ SIR EDWARD GREYI am not aware of any of the facts stated or alleged in the Question, and in any case I cannot undertake to interfere with the methods of making railway time-tables known in Egypt.
