HC Deb 15 May 1907 vol 174 cc965-6
CAPTAIN CRAIG

I beg to ask the Chief Secretary to the Lord-Lieutenant of Ireland whether he will favourably consider the advisability of promoting a short Bill introducing the same clause, as to religious pressure being brought to bear in the selection of candidates for local government appointments in Ireland and the penalties to be imposed for so doing, as is proposed in the new Irish Council Bill into the existing Local Government Acts, and making it retrospective. † See col. 934.

MR. BIRRELL

The Government do not contemplate taking any such action.
