HC Deb 14 May 1907 vol 174 c783
MR. WALTER LONG (Dublin, S.)

I beg to ask the Secretary of State for; War whether, if he persists in sending the Royal Scots Greys to Bulford, there will be thirty-eight families who will be compelled to live at Tidworth, a distance of eight miles, and thirty-eight married men, not on the establishment, who will be separated from their wives and children completely for a period of probably eighteen months or two years; and, if so, whether, in view of the cruelty and hardship involved, he will consider the advisability of utilising the empty infantry barracks at Tidworth, so as to make proper provision for all the married men, it being only necessary to put up wooden stabling for the horses; and whether he could see his way, even now, to make this most necessary and desirable change in the arrangements.

THE SECRETARY OF STATE FOR WAR (Mr. HALDANE,) Haddington

Arrangements are in course of being made for moving the regiment to Tidworth instead of to Bulford.
