HC Deb 14 May 1907 vol 174 c790
CAPTAIN FABER (Hampshire, Andover)

I beg to ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether he can state the number of persons received into London prisons on conviction, summary or other, during 1906, who according to their own statements were born in foreign countries.

THE SECRETARY OF STATE FOR THE HOME DEPARTMENT (Mr. GLADSTONE, Leeds, W.)

The figure is 1,823, which compares very satisfactorily with the figure 2,206 for the previous year, 1905.
