HC Deb 06 May 1907 vol 173 c1306
SIR CHARLES DILKE

To ask the Secretary of State for War if he can inform the House what is to be the future of the Reserve Division of Militia, of which the strength is shown as 7,783 on 1st October last; whether it is still intended that it shall disappear; and whether in the meantime it is to be attached to the Territorial Army in Great Britain and to the Militia in Ireland.

(Answered by Mr. Secretary Haldane.) All the engagements for this Reserve have been stopped, except for the men from the Royal Garrison Regiment. These latter are discharged from this Reserve as soon as they have made up the qualified term for pension. This Reserve accordingly will gradually disappear. It will remain as an independent force till it dies out.
