HC Deb 18 March 1907 vol 171 c430
MR. JAMES O'CONNOR (Wicklow. W.)

To ask the Secretary of State, for War if he will give instructions to the officer in command at the Glen of Imaal (county Wicklow) artillery camp during the coming summer practice to obtain, if possible, the supply of hay from the farmers or contractors residing in the neighbourhood of the camp.

(Answered by Mr. Secretary Haldane.) The supply of hay at Glen Imaal camp is arranged for by the General Officer Commanding in Chief the forces in Ireland by contract. Tenderers for this supply cannot be limited to farmers or contractors residing in the neighbourhood of the camp to the exclusion of other eligible competitors, but all things being equal preference would ordinarily be given to local farmers.
