§ MR. SLOANTo ask the Chief Secretary to the Lord-Lieutenant of Ireland how many Protestants and Roman Catholics of all ranks are there in the Dublin metropolitan police force; and the number allotted to each of the several divisions.
§ (Answered by Mr. Birrell.) The Chief Commissioner informs me that there are in all ranks of the Dublin metropolitan police force 995 Roman Catholics and 195 Protestants (including thirty-four Presbyterians and seven Methodists). The religious persuasion of the men is not taken into account in allocating them to the various divisions.
