HC Deb 18 March 1907 vol 171 cc479-80
MR. WEIR

I beg to ask the Secretary for Scotland, in view of the unsatisfactory condition of the harbour at Balintore, Ross-shire, which was constructed in accordance with plans prepared by the engineers employed by the Fishery Board for Scotland, will he call for a Report to ascertain the cost of putting the harbour in a serviceable condition.

MR. SINCLAIR

The harbour plans were those approved by the fishermen and the harbour trustees, and the engineer was employed by them and not by the Fishery Board. The Board's share in the transaction was a grant of £5,805 to the trustees. The burden of maintaining the harbour and the cost of any report on its condition fall to be borne by the harbour trustees.
