§ COLONEL HARRISON-BROADLEY (Yorkshire, E.R., Howdenshire)To ask Mr. Chancellor of the Exchequer whether, in view of the declarations made by members of His Majesty's Government against the continuance of the duty on sugar, he is now prepared to consider 439 the advisability of abolishing or reducing the same; and whether His Majesty's Government has yet come to a decision as to the attitude to be taken with regard to the removal of the Sugar Bounties.
§ (Answered by Mr. Asquith.) If and when the state of the public finances permit, the claims of sugar will have my best consideration, but I am unable to say when such an opportunity is likely to arise. No decision has yet been taken as to withdrawal from the Brussels Convention.
