§ MR. LEA (St. Pancras, E.)I beg to ask the President of the Local Government Board what steps have been taken by his Department to appoint a Committee to inquire into and settle the question of what is whisky, having in view the postponement of the appeal against Mr. Fordham's decision.
§ MR. JOHN BURNSIt appeared to me to be desirable that before I determined to take action of the kind referred to in the Question, the decision of the Court of quarter sessions on a re-hearing of the appeal should be given, and I expressed an opinion to this effect. Further representations have, however, recently been made to me on the subject, and these are now receiving my consideration. I may add that any Committee appointed by me could only inquire into the matter. They would have no power to settle it.
