§ SIR HOWARD VINCENT (Sheffield, Central)I beg to ask Mr. Chancellor of the Exchequer if the Government has yet come to a decision as to whether the pensions of retired naval, military, police, and civil servants, as also other retirement allowances, are to be treated, in calculation for the new income-tax, as income earned during their years of service.
§ MR. ASQUITHThe question is receiving careful consideration, and I shall be prepared to make a further statement upon it when the clause embodying the definition of "earned income" comes under discussion in Committee.
