HC Deb 04 June 1907 vol 175 cc498-9
MR. JOYCE (Limerick)

I beg to ask the Chief Secretary to the Lord-Lieutenant of Ireland at what date was the Nevins Estate at Mountshannon, Annacoty, county Limerick, parcelled out to the tenants; how was the allotment made; wore all the persons who were given farms on this estate evicted tenants; have any changes been made since by any inspector; and has an inspector power to change a tenant from one farm to another after such tenant being put in possession and signing the agreement for purchase for the farm allotted to him.

MR. CHERRY

The Estates Commissioners inform me that the distribution of the lands referred to took place on the 7th of last month. Of the persons who were allotted holdings, nine were ‡ See (4) Debates, clxxiv., 799–800. evicted tenants, two were tenants on the estate, and four were tenants of adjacent small holdings. The allocation of such holdings is decided on by the Commissioners themselves, upon a scheme prepared by their inspector, and approved of by them. The Commissioners are not aware that any change has been made since the new occupiers were put into possession. No change could be made without the Commissioners' approval.
