BOTTOMLEY (Hackney, S.)I beg to ask the Prime Minister whether, before advising His Majesty to confer any further Peerages or other honours upon commoners, he will consider the desirableness of instituting a tax on titles, and applying the proceeds of such tax in aid of the scheme of the Chancellor of the Exchequer for establishing the commencement of the nucleus of the fund for old-age pensions.
§ SIR H. CAMPBELL-BANNERMANThis Question seems to be one which ought rather to have been addressed to the Chancellor of the Exchequer. It suggests a new tax. I have no doubt he will consider the suggestion with any others.
