I beg to ask the Secretary of State for India whether his attention has been called to the fact that, since October, 1905, the taxpayers of the Station Ward of Simla have been disfranchised, although, by the Punjab Municipal Act, they are entitled to have the election of three representatives on the Municipal Committee; and will he take steps to see that this body of ratepayers have their rights restored to them.

I have no knowledge of the facts in this matter; but I am advised that there is nothing in the Punjab Municipal Act to give the Station Ward of Simla a right to three representatives. I will make inquiry
