I beg to ask the Chief Secretary to the Lord-Lieutenant of Ireland if he can state the number of cases of agrarian outrage which have occurred between 1st June, 1906, and 1st June, 1907; and in how many of those cases arrests have been made.

MR. BIRRELL

The number of cases of agrarian outrages which occurred during the period mentioned was 271. In twenty-nine of these cases arrests were made, the number of persons arrested being 121. In six other cases, proceedings by summons were taken against thirty-one persons.

Do these figures include threatening notices, a number of which are known to be written by the persons receiving them?
