FARRELLI beg to ask the Chief Secretary to the Lord-Lieutenant of Ireland whether he is now able to say if the Thompson estate at Clonfin, in North Longford, will be purchased as untenanted land for distribution amongst the evicted tenants in county Longford by the Estates Commissioners.
§ MR. BIRRELLThe Estates Commissioners have, at the instance of the hon. Member, communicated with the solicitors for the mortgagees of this estate, who have replied that their clients, being mortgagees of a life interest only, are not in a position to sell either to the Commissioners or to the tenants. The Commissioners have so far been unable to discover what persons, if any, are entitled to sell.
