faction prevailing among the fishermen of the Scottish portion of the Solway in regard to the conditions under which they have to carry on their industry; whether he is aware that legislation was at one time in contemplation; and whether he will consider what steps of this nature can be taken at an early date.

(Answered by Mr. Sinclair.) I am aware of the dissatisfaction prevailing in reference to this matter and the suggestions that have been advanced for legislation. I have placed myself in communication with the Board of Agriculture and Fisheries, and learn that it is hoped the Salmon Fisheries Act for England of this session may materially facilitate a settlment of this question.
