§ MR. NIELDTo ask the Secretary to the Admiralty whether His Majesty's Government have the services of a naval attaché in Berlin; if so, how it comes that the Admiralty are in ignorance of the progress made by the German Government in carrying out their shipbuilding programmes of 1905–6 and 1906–7, and have not obtained the information available to the Press of this country; and whether the Board intend to take any, and what, steps to ensure their being made acquainted promptly with all information that can be legitimately acquired by their representatives abroad.
(Answered by Mr. Lambert.) The Admiralty have no knowledge of any official information published by the German Government on this subject. They are satisfied with the information supplied by their naval attaché at Berlin, which they do not propose to divulge.
