§ MR. FLAVINTo ask the Chief Secretary to the Lord-Lieutenant of Ireland whether he can state if Captain Leslie, D.L., of Tarbert, North Kerry, applied for and was given the services of two policemen by Sergeant Curran on Saturday, 29th June, 1907, to protect a bailiff to carry out an eviction after sunset; and, if so, whether he proposes to take any steps to stop this illegal practice.
145 (Answered by Mr. Birrell.) I am informed that there was no eviction after sunset in this case, but on the date mentioned a warrant for the possession of a tenement was executed by the police at about eleven o'clock a.m. The proceedings were at the suit of Captain Leslie against Daniel Dalton. The warrant was addressed to the police by the magistrate who made the order, and there was nothing illegal in the action of the police.
