FIELDTo ask the Postmaster-General whether an estimate is prepared for each financial year showing an approximation of the various store requirements for the Post Office service in Ireland; and, if so, will he explain why manufacturers are required to tender for the delivery of Irish supplies in London instead of in Dublin.
(Answered by Mr. Sydney Buxton.) A separate estimate is prepared for Ireland. Manufacturers are required to tender for delivery in Ireland in the case of uniform clothing, head dresses, parcel baskets, and other stores. But in the case of certain articles the proportion required for use in Ireland is so small that this course is not practicable.
