HC Deb 23 April 1907 vol 172 c1548
MR. BELLAIRS (Lynn Regis)

To ask the Secretary to the Admiralty what is the total increase of pay and allowances, including any pay of extra staff, due to officers being given brevet rank in seagoing fleets.

(Answered by Mr. Edmund Robertson.) The total increase of pay and allowances, including the wages of additional domestics, amounts to approximately £3,460 a year; but it must be distinctly understood that this does not represent any additional cost to the nation, but only the difference between the ordinary pay and allowances of the four officers in question and those attaching for the moment to their acting rank, which is determined by the importance of the station.
