HC Deb 22 April 1907 vol 172 cc1432-3
VISCOUNT CASTLEREAGH

I beg to ask the Prime Minister what was the actual expenditure incurred in connection with the visit to the Mediterranean stations by the Committee appointed by the Secretary of State for War, in conjunction with the Admiralty, for that purpose; and upon what Estimates presented to Parliament has such expenditure been charged.

SIR H. CAMPBELL-BANNERMAN

As the journey of this Committee was not confined to the Mediterranean it would be difficult to ascertain the exact proportion of the cost incurred in connection with their visit to the Mediterranean. The expenditure for the whole inquiry amounted to £907 9s. 11d. Of this sum the payments for services of members of the Committee were charged to Army Vote 12, Item H; the Admiralty's messing bill to Vote 6 F.3, and the travelling expenses to Vote 6 E.2. No additional expenditure for coal or stores was involved.
