HC Deb 15 April 1907 vol 172 c609
MR. WEIR

I beg to ask the Postmaster-General whether he has received a petition from the inhabitants of the Coigach district, Achiltibuie, Ross-shire, urging that there should be a daily delivery of letters during the six months of the year from May to October; and will efforts be made to accede to the prayer of the petitioners.

MR. SYDNEY BUXTON

I have received the petition referred to by the hon. Member, and I find that there is already a service on six days a week from Ullapool to Achiltibuie in the months of July, August and September. I regret that, owing to the high cost of the existing arrangements compared to the receipts, I should not be justified in affording, during the other three months, a more frequent service than that now given on three days a week. It is possible, however, that a delivery on six days would be justified in some part of the district served from Achiltibuie during the three summer months. I am making further inquiry on this point and will communicate the result to the hon. Member.
