§ MR. ASHLEYI beg to ask the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether any progress has yet been made in the negotiations between this country and other Powers with a view to the substitution of a new treaty for that of 1855 with reference to Sweden and Norway.
§ SIR EDWARD GREYI can only refer the hon. Member to my reply of 26th February on this subject, † to which, at present, I have nothing to add. It would in any case be unusual to make statements about negotiations which concern several other Powers while they are incomplete.
§ MR. ASHLEYCan the right hon. Baronet say when the negotiations are likely to be finished?
§ † See (4) Debates, clxix., 1428.
362§ SIR EDWARD GREYI can say nothing about that.
