HC Deb 13 November 1906 vol 164 cc1286-7
DR. RUTHERFORD (Middlesex, Brentford)

I beg to ask the Secretary of State for India whether his attention has been called to the refusal of the Government of Madras to grant the request of the Madura District People's Association for information regarding the proposed division of their district; and whether, in view of the fact that the people have no voice in the government of their own country, he will ask the Madras Government to consider favourably in future representations of this nature.

THE UNDERSECRETARY OF STATE FOR INDIA (Mr. JOHN ELLIS, Nottinghamshire, Rushcliffe)

I have no ' information as to the particular case mentioned; but I will communicate with the Government of Madras on the subject.
