§ COLONEL LOCKWOODI beg to ask the Under-Secretary of State for the Colonies whether he will state why from the 1st April the local allowance of civil servants in Northern Nigeria was reduced from 5s. to 4s. a day: and whether the sum of 5s. a day was fixed to be paid to officers until the conditions of residential service were improved and officers provided with permanent quarters.
