To ask the Postmaster-General, having regard to the fact that the Press rate on telegrams to India is much in excess of the rate to Australia, and that a large population in India are greatly interested in the dissemination of news from this country, will he consider the expediency of communicating with the cable companies concerned, with a view to secure a reduction in the charges on telegrams to India.

(Answered by Mr. Sydney Buxton.) The hon. Member must, I fear, have been misinformed. The Press rate on telegrams to India is the same as that to Australia. In regard to the question of a reduction of the rate, I would refer the hon. Member to the Answer given yesterday by the Secretary of State for India to the Question of the hon. Member for Hythe.†
