To ask the Postmaster General when the vacant overseership on the postal staff at Bristol, consequent on the retirement of the chief superintendent on December 13th, 1905, will be filled; will he date the promotion from the date the vacancy occurred; and will he give an assurance that the vacancy will be filled by the promotion of an officer at present borne on the postal establishment.

Answered by Mr. Sydney Buxton). The staff at Bristol being at present in excess of the requirements of the work, the question of the number of officers the business will warrant is under consideration, and in the meantime the vacant appointment referred to by the hon. Member cannot be filled.
