HC Deb 23 May 1906 vol 157 c1262
SIR HOWARD VINCENT

To ask the secretary of State for the Home Department if the police will be entitled to be represented by counsel before the Royal Commission; and, further, if they will be entitled to defend themselves against the charges which have been brought against them.

(Answered by Mr. Secretary Gladstone.) The Commission will have power to permit the police to be represented by counsel. I am confident that they will allow them full opportunity to defend themselves against the charges which have been made.
