HC Deb 23 May 1906 vol 157 c1249
MR. DUFFY (Galway, S.)

To ask the Chief Secretary to the Lord-Lieutenant of Ireland whether his attention has been directed to a resolution passed by the County Council of Galway at their mooting on the 15th ultimo, wherein they request the Local Government Board to send, before the annual mooting to be held in June, a definite reply to their resolution of April 26th, 1906, re, the appointment of Mr. Hobbs as rate collector for Ballinasloe district; and whether, in view of the fact that the case is eminently one in which the Local Government Board may exercise its discretion, he will take steps to see that the appointment of Mr. Michael Hobbs is sanctioned.

(Answered by Mr. Bryce.) I beg to refer to the very full reply which I gave to the Question on this subject put by the hon. Member for East Mayo on the 16th instant,†
