HC Deb 22 May 1906 vol 157 cc1144-5
MR. P. A. MCHUGH

I beg to ask the Prime Minister whether the Government propose to introduce legislation ††See (4) Debates, xcvii., 856. amending the laws relating to committals for contempt of Court; and whether he can state approximately when such legislation will he introduced.

THE PRIME MINISTER AND FIRST LORD OF THE TREASURY (Sir H. CAMPBELL-BANNERMAN, Stirling Burghs)

I am afraid I cannot give a pledge as to the introduction of legislation for amending the laws relating to committals for contempt of Court, but, as the hon. Member is aware, my right hon. friend the Attorney-General for Ireland has admitted that there is a case for legislation, and I can assure him that the Government will not lose sight of the matter.
