To ask the Secretary for Scotland in view of the fact that the last Report of the Congested Districts Board shows that the Secretary for Scotland, in order to meet the difficulties of the cottar question in South Uist, has induced the proprietrix to break up the farms of Kilbride, Gerinish, and Glen-dale, will he consider the expediency of using his influence with the proprietor of the Island of Lewis to induce him to break up farms in order to meet the cottar difficulty in that island.

(Answered by Mr. Sinclair.) I note the suggestion of the hon. Member, but am not able to make any further statement at present as to the policy of the Government.
