HC Deb 09 May 1906 vol 156 cc1298-9
SIR H. COTTON (Nottingham, E.)

I beg to ask the Secretary of State for India whether, having regard to the fact that the Convention with China does not alter the amount of the Tibetan indemnity in any way, he is now able to give any information regarding the payment of the first instalment of that indemnity which was due on January 1st last.

THE SECRETARY OF STATE FOR INDIA (Mr. JOHN MORLEY, Montrose Burghs

): Now that the Convention with China is signed, early payment of the first instalment of the Tibetan indemnity may be looked for. But I am not yet in a position to give definite information.
