HC Deb 03 May 1906 vol 156 c700
MR. STAVELEY HILL (Staffordshire Kingswinford)

To ask the President of the Local Government Board whether his attention has been called to the present position as to settlements of poor persons in parishes divided under the operation of Section 1 (3) 36 (1) or 36 (2) of The Local Government Act, 1894; and whether he will propose some remedy to meet the cases in which persons have lost their settlement by reason of the division of the parish in which they were born or have derived a settlement, and will he consult the law officers of the Crown.

(Answered by Mr. John Burns.) The hon. Member asked me an almost precisely similar Question on the 9th April,† and I would refer him to the Answer I then gave. I have further considered the matter, but it does not seem to me to be necessary to consult the law officers on the subject.
