HC Deb 03 May 1906 vol 156 cc693-4
MR. WEIR

To ask the Secretary of State for War, in view of the fact that a large plant of special machinery and tools is available at Enfield Factory for the manufacture of rifles, will he state why 33 per cent, more rifles are to be manufactured by private firms than at the factory at Enfield.

(Answered by Mr. Secretary Haldane.) The usual allotment of orders to the trade has been supplemented by those given to Sparkbrook, while those given to the ordnance factories are proportionately diminished.
