HC Deb 28 March 1906 vol 154 cc1264-5
* MR. RADFORD (Islington, E.)

I beg to ask the Secretary to the Treasury whether he is aware that, since the publication of the last volume of the revised edition of the statutes in 1900, statutes and parts of statutes covering more than 1,000 pages in such edition have been repealed, and that more than 1,200 short titles have been given to existing statutes; and whether it is intended forthwith to publish a new edition, omitting the repealed enactments, adding the short titles to the existing statutes, and otherwise revised up to the present date.

THE FINANCIAL SECRETARY TO THE TREASURY (Mr. MCKENNA,) Monmouthshire, N.

I will bring the hon. Member's suggestion under the consideration of the Statute Law Revision Committee, within whose province the matter rests. I understand that a new volume, bringing the present edition of the revised statutes up to 1900, is now in hand, and that the Committee do not consider that the time has quite arrived for the commencement of a fresh revision.
