HC Deb 28 March 1906 vol 154 c1256
MR. SHEEHAN

To ask the Secretary to the Treasury whether he will take the necessary steps to have the Order in Council, dated 15th August, 1890, which provided that officers employed in Government offices should be allowed a half-holiday on alternate Saturdays, so varied as to extend the privilege of the half-holiday to every Saturday on condition that the time is made up by increasing the working hours on other days of the week.

(Answered by Mr. McKenna.) I am not sure that the change would be acceptable to the public departments generally, or that their arrangements would permit of its introduction, but I will give further consideration to the subject.
