HC Deb 28 March 1906 vol 154 cc1268-9
MR. GINNELL (Westmeath, N.)

I beg to ask the Chief Secretary to the Lord-Lieutenant of Ireland when a landlord proposes to sell his interest to his tenants and they, deeming the price too high, offer to buy at such price as the Estates Commissioners find the respective holdings on inspection to be worth, and the landlord declines this offer and proceeds for the recovery of the rents, upon which his proposed prices were based, will the forces of the Crown be at his service in this enterprise.

THE CHIEF SECRETARY FOR IRELAND (Mr. BRYCE,) Aberdeen, S.

It is not competent to the Executive Government to refuse the assistance of the forces of the Crown for the protection of the Sheriff when engaged in the execution of the King's writ.
