HC Deb 26 March 1906 vol 154 c838
CAPTAIN DONELAN

To ask the Postmaster-General whether he will consider the desirability of extending the concessions recently granted to rural postmen in Great Britain to rural postmen in Ireland.

(Answered by Mr. Sydney Buxton.) The general concessions granted under the Stanley revision to rural postmen apply to those in Ireland as well as to those elsewhere in the United Kingdom. The rates of pay vary according to the work which has to be performed and the cost of living.

MR. NANNETTI

To ask the Postmaster-General if it is intended in the new scale to include Irish rural postmen, who are at present on the scale 15s. by 1s. to 18s., in the new scale 16s. by 1s. to 20s., or are they, the Irish rural postmen, to be treated differently from the men employed in similar work in England, Scotland, and Wales.

(Answered by Mr. Sydney Buxton.) A certain number of rural postmen in Ireland are at present on the scale 15s. by 1s. to 18s., to which the hon. Member refers. The question of their pay is one that will, no doubt, come before the Committee on Post Office Servants.
