§ COLONEL KENYON-SLANEY (Shropshire, Newport)To ask the Secretary of State for War whether he is aware that the cost of maintaining the bands of Militia regiments falls very heavily on the officers; and whether, therefore, he is prepared to increase substantially the allowance now made for that purpose.
(Answered by Mr. Haldane.) The present band allowance of £25 was granted in 1899. No complaints, of the nature alluded to in the Question, have reached the War Office. No increase of the allowance is at present contemplated.
