HC Deb 20 March 1906 vol 154 c216
MR. SEDDON (Lancashire, Newton)

I beg to ask the Secretary to the Treasury whether he will give a Return stating the number of junior clerks engaged in the county courts of Lancashire, salaries paid, length of service, and method of promotion; also whether salaries are progressive.

THE FINANCIAL SECRETARY TO THE TREASURY (Mr. MCKENNA,) Monmouthshire, N.

Clerks in county courts, whether in Lancashire or elsewhere, are in the personal employment of the Registrars. The Treasury has no information from which a Return could be compiled giving the particulars asked for.

MR. BELLOC (Salford, S.)

Is it in tended to put these on the same footing as other civil servants?

MR. MCKENNA

They are not civil servants.
