§ MR. GEORGE ROBERTS (Norwich)I beg to ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether it is proposed to introduce legislation to limit the hours of employment of waiters, waitresses, and bar attendants; and, if so, can he give 1099 the approximate date when such legislation will be introduced.
§ * MR. GLADSTONEUnder the Shop Hours Act of 1892 young persons, namely, those under eighteen, may not be employed for more than seventy-four hours a week, including meal times, in public houses or refreshment houses. Otherwise there is no limit on the employment of waiters, etc., but I am afraid I cannot make any promise as to legislation on this subject.
