I beg to ask the President of the Local Government Board, if he will state in what manner the £1,200 paid to the Redistribution Committee were expended; was the allowance for salary, and, if so, at what rate of salary per month were the members of the Committee paid; and, if not, was the allowance for travelling expenses; and, if so, what parts of England, Wales, Scotland, and Ireland were visited.

The expenditure was in even money as follows:—Remuneration of members of the Committee and of persons employed by them, £1,103. Travelling and incidental expenses, £93. The remuneration of two of the members of the Committee was at the rate of five guineas for each day on which they were engaged on the work of the Committee. The third member received a payment of £200. The places visited by members of the Committee were King's Lynn, Pontefract, Taunton, Stafford and Windsor. The travelling and personal expenses of any member of the Committee when necessarily absent from home were paid.
