HC Deb 12 March 1906 vol 153 cc862-3
MR. JOHN ROCHE (Galway, E.)

To ask the Chief Secretary to the Lord-Lieutenant of Ireland whether the Congested Districts Board will consider the advisability of supplying the needs I of tenants of uneconomic holdings in the neighbourhood of estates acquired by the; Board, before importing people from a considerable distance.

(Answered by Mr. Bryce.) The Congested Districts Board will always favourably consider the claims of tenants with uneconomic holdings on and near estates purchased by them, but the Board cannot be bound to give all that neighbouring tenants may ask, without regard to the general needs of persons elsewhere, and whose migration it may be necessary to arrange.
