HC Deb 06 March 1906 vol 153 c295
MAJOR RENTON (Lincolnshire, Gainsborough)

I beg to ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether his attention has been called to the fact that it is alleged that many workmen have been dismissed on account of the votes they are presumed to have given at the recent general election; and whether he is prepared to advise any alteration in or strengthening of the law to prevent such action in the future.

* THE SECRETARY OF STATE FOR THE HOME DEPARTMENT (Mr. GLADSTONE,) Leeds, W.

My attention has not been called to the allegations to which the hon. Member refers. If particulars of such cases can be given I shall be prepared to consider the question whether any action is necessary or practicable.
