HC Deb 28 June 1906 vol 159 cc1130-1

I beg to ask the Under-Secretary of State for the Colonies whether Lord Elgin has replied to the public petition of the inhabitants of British Guiana; and whether he intends to grant a commission of inquiry into the grievances contained in such petition, or otherwise take action to remove the complaints of the inhabitants.

Pending the publication of Papers on this subject, which will include the text of the petition together with a despatch from the Secretary of State comprising a full and categorical reply to the complaints of the petitioners, I am unable to add anything to the Answer which I gave to a similar Question by the hon.
