HC Deb 27 June 1906 vol 159 c918
MR. T. DAVIES (Fulham)

To ask the President of the Board of Trade whether his attention has been drawn to the accident which occurred to an electric tram - car near Highgate Archway on Saturday last, resulting in the death of several persons; and whether, in view of similar accidents of late to cars on steep gradients, he will consider the advisability of instituting an inquiry in order that he may, if he thinks necessary, make more stringent regulations as to brakes of cars running over very steep gradients such as this.

(Answered by Mr. Lloyd-George.) An inquiry into this sad accident will be held on behalf of the Board of Trade by the chief inspecting officer of railways, and the Question to which my hon. friend draws attention will certainly receive very careful consideration.
