HC Deb 25 June 1906 vol 159 c615
MR. FIELD

To ask the President of the Board of Trade, whether he will consider the advisability of establishing an Insurance State Department with Government auditors to investigate and report on the solvency of all British, Colonial, American, and foreign insurance companies transacting business in the United Kingdom.

(Answered by Mr. Kearley.) As at present advised, I have no intention of introducing legislation of the nature suggested. Certain questions affecting the interests of British policy-holders in foreign and Colonial life insurance companies transacting business in the United Kingdom a e now being considered by a Committee of the House of Lords.
