HC Deb 19 June 1906 vol 159 c40
MR. J. WARD

I beg to ask the President of the Board of Education whether he will make provision in the present Education Bill now before Parliament for exempting council schools from rating, as is the case at present with non-provided schools.

THE PRESIDENT OF THE BOARD OF EDUCATION (Mr. BIRRELL, Bristol, N.)

As the whole question of rating is now under consideration and will doubtless have to be reviewed very thoroughly, it is not proposed to make any further extensions of the principle of exemption from rates in the present Bill.
