HC Deb 19 June 1906 vol 159 cc26-7
MR. GROVE (Northamptonshire, S.)

To ask the President of the Local Government Board whether he is aware that the Amersham Water Company have declared their intention to discourage fire hydrants to private houses, and have refused to allow consumers to put in the same at their own expense, except under conditions to be decided by the company; and whether, seeing that such a policy subjects life and property in the country to risk, in the interests of a private company, he proposes to take steps to remove this public danger.

(Answered by Mr. John Burns.) I have no information as to the declaration referred to. The matter to which it relates is not one with respect to which I have any control over the water company, but I will communicate with them on the subject.
